Chicago, Illinois

First snow…yeah I have seen it over the last few years (even though I live in the tropical paradise J), but it was not until this morning that it really awakened some feelings long forgotten. I was standing there at the window of Chicago’s YMCA, relishing those few special moments right before the early morning embraces the sleepy city and things get going. Abruptly, first snow flurries came descending from the cloudy skies. Just as suddenly all the childhood memories came pouring back to me: jumping out of the bed and running through the chilly room to peak through the shuttered windows of our house to see if it snowed last night…and then the excitement of seeing the streets covered with whiteness…dragging the slides out of the rusty basement and flying down Primorska until dusk came down upon us…yeah, these snow flurries brought back memories and smile to my face. Life can get hectic sometimes and it is easy to get caught up in the rush of life. At the same time, it is important to stop every now and then and enjoy the little things that matter…like the first snow flurries in October….Yeah, I am still smiling…
