2010 Australian Open, Melbourne
Just a week after I started work, it was already time for a public holiday - Australia Day. That meant day off work, and while everyone in Sydney scurried to local beaches, Paul (our CFO) and I opted for a quick, day trip to Melbourne to catch Australian Open Quarter Finals. Aussie Open has always been my favorite Grand Slam and it was really weird to actually be in the place that you watch on TV for so long and that for so long seems like the other side of the world - distant and far away. The sports complex was amazing and the vibe was very cool. Don't know whether it was because of the vibrant blue courts or animated crowd, you couldn't help but be in high spirits in the arena. Missed seeing Djokovic play by a day, but considering he ended up loosing after all, it was probably a good thing :-) I did at least enjoy watching Roddick get knocked out :-) 3 matches later, it was already time for our flight back to Sydney and reality...
