2010 Melbourne Grand Prix

INCREDIBLE!!! I was never a fan of racing, and if someone told me that I would never go to a race in my life, I would have been perfectly fine with it. I just figured I would go for the experience of being a part of the atmosphere surrounding the race day. So when we decided to spend a weekend in Melbourne for the 2nd Grand Prix of the season I just wanted to feel the hectic side of the city as people flood in from around the world for this magnificent event. My friend Theresa who is visiting from LA (which is great as it is nice to actually have an "old" friend amongst all the newness of my life recently :-)) was able to get us seats right at the start/finish line which brought us even closer to the action. Being at the stands, not only are you able to hear the thundering roar of the cars circling the tracks but even more so you can actually feel it! I guess people are right when they say that you have not experienced racing, until you sit next to the track and absorb the sounds and sights of these powerful machines flying by. This is probably one of the most unique sporting events I have been too, and I enjoyed it so much that even the idea of going to another one does not seem so strange after all :-) Singapore Night Grand Prix in September perhaps?

Paul and Keith (Theresa's friend from Oregon) were also there so it was a great weekend overall, as we attended the opening night for the Australian Football League between Essendon and Geelong, went out couple of nights, ate traditional Vietnamese food (complimented by a green caterpillar taking a stroll in our salad :-)) and truly enjoyed all that this city has to offer. At the end of the day, one thing is for sure. I can not wait for the next weekend so that I can actually rest from this one :-)
